Václav Parus was born on September 18, 1926 in Mělník. He participated in the Czech Road Motorcycle Championship from 1955 to 1969. He made an indelible mark in the annals of Czech motoring on the Strakonice ČZ 175.
The 175 cc class was very popular in our country at the time. Václav Parus managed to reign supreme in 1955, right at the premiere of the 175 class in the Czechoslovakian championship. He won his second championship title in 1961, in close competition with competitors František Boček, František Kročka and Karel Bojer from Strakonice. He added his third title in 1962, when he defended his championship title in style by winning all races of the year. He also achieved many successes in the 125 and 250 cc classes. In 1955, he won the Brno Grand Prix in the 125 cc class and also participated in a number of Grand Prix.
The greatest success of Václav Parus's riding career can be considered winning a bronze replica from the Tourist Trophy races on the legendary Isle of Man in 1964. He participated in the race with a ČZ 125 alongside František Bartoš and took an excellent 6th place in competition with world-class brands MV Agusta and Montesa.
He participated in the Czechoslovakian Championship in 1991. At the age of 64, he crowned his riding career here on an Eso 500 OHV from 1955 by winning 7 championship points and finishing 14th in the Czechoslovak Championship.
After ending his riding career in the Czechoslovakian championship, Václav Parus could not last long without motorcycle racing and for many years he rode his Ace around the circuits in veteran races, both in the classic class and in regularity races.
It is a great honor for us that he sanctified our Kolštejn circuit with his famous racing name, spiced up racing in the K category with his active participation, and regularly enhanced the races in Branná with his presence over the years. Mr. Václav Parus died on May 1, 2017.
The Václav Parus Award for the best-performed machine at the Branná races has become a testament to riding art and should not be missing in the living rooms of top Czech road racing riders.. … as Ilja Zachoval used to say: „"The best-performing racing machine is the one that finishes first"“.
